Imagine what you could get done if you had the kind of time whoever's behind that website must have?

adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience

This seemed like the perfect companion to the thoughtful-yet-distractingly-adorned-with-Woody-Allen's less-than-handsome-mug post by Paul Colman on pace.

This bit from the Miami Vice pilot is just a brilliant illustration of perfect pacing; There's a sort of suspenseful patience, a strange blend of speed and stillness. And it absolutely couldn't be made today. "No, we can't just play that long intro, wait for the vocals". "No, we can't just watch them sitting there. More dialogue!" - And so on. But it's perfect like this, quiet yet roaring. Also, Phil Collins apparently used to be pretty good.

So, patience, however dangerous it seems, turns out to be quite effective. And yep, that's an actual Emerson quote in the title. And no, I'm not going on a tear of just posting YouTube clips. Promise.

a bit of mac geekery

ok, I'm confused.
So, the big Steve presents the new iTV video streaming thingy. Except, it's not out until next year. Very unlike Jobs. And though it looks sort of swell, what, exactly, does it do?
I get that it's a handy device that let's you pull computer content into your living room by wireless connection. And iTV is the link that let's you transfer the movies on your harddrive or songs in iTunes on to your "home entertainment center". 
It works with iTunes store, which is cool, but it doesn't tune in for live broadcasts, there's no recording option, so you're dependent on whether there's a download you can buy. You can schedule a download in advance, if you follow a show, but that's it. Hm. Don't throw out the Tivo yet.
So how about live sports? you wanna sit around and wait for the game to finish and the download to be available? And so far, Disney is the only studio to commit to sell stuff via iTunes. Oh, and did I mention that it won't be out UNTIL NEXT YEAR???

Come on Steve, you're better than this. If anyone can cross the divide between computer and living room it's you... but this just won't cut it.
